Neil Lawler


Neil, the principal of Bell Miller, holds a bachelor of laws degree with Honours and is a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law. He has worked within the criminal justice system since 1984 and is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory and the High Court of Australia.

Neil has experienced considerable success throughout every jurisdiction in Queensland and many courts around Australia. He holds extensive knowledge in criminal matters, with particular emphasis on serious charges such as murder, drug trafficking and corporate fraud. He is frequently seen in all media formats, whether managing highly publicized cases or providing expert legal advice.





Fiona Graham


Fiona is a partner of the firm. She has been the manager of our Caboolture office since its inception in 2007. Fiona has worked in the legal industry since 1989 and commenced practicing as a solicitor in 2000. She has been with Bell Miller Solicitors since 2000. She has a wealth of experience in criminal law and is highly regarded by Judges, Magistrates and Practitioners alike. Her experience is demonstrated in detailed knowledge of both the law and the criminal justice system. Often, it is the processes involved in answering criminal charges that appears most daunting. Fiona’s experience in these processes offers a large degree of solace to the concerned client. Fiona frequently devotes her valuable time to appear as duty lawyer in the Caboolture Magistrates Court where she represents the disadvantaged. Fiona also appears regularly in Brisbane and Sunshine Coast courts.  She has acted in many high profile trials and appeals in Queensland.

Fiona is also a panel member of the Indigenous Referral Panel with Legal Aid Queensland. Legal Aid has acknowledged that there are matters that require practitioners to exercise a higher level of understanding and experience in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. Where there are language issues and cultural issues in complex matters which will impact on an indigenous client’s representation and court matter, the client should be referred to a Panel member. Fiona has had to comply with strenuous requirements to be admitted to the panel and has a keen interest in representing indigenous clients.
 



Adam Magill


Adam is a partner of the firm, and has been working in the criminal justice system since 1996. He holds a Bachelor of Law from the Queensland University of Technology. He has specialist knowledge of police investigative practice and procedure and has honed his skills in bail applications. He has extensive experience in hearings conducted the Australian Crime Commission and the Crime and Misconduct Commission. His expert advice is based on 13 years of hands on experience. His areas of expertise range from murder and drug trafficking to armed robbery. Adams professional network has led to detailed advices and representations in areas of liquor licencing. Adam is additionally the solicitor for Australian Junior Rugby Union and is a judicial member of the Queensland Junior Rugby Union. His appearances are often followed by the media on a national level.





James Wallace


James holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from James Cook University and was admitted as a practicing solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia in 2007. He was appointed an Associate of the firm in January 2011. James gained experience in a variety of areas before choosing to specialise in criminal law and has operated intrastate from Townsville to the Gold Coast. He has a keen interest in the criminal justice system and principles of justice generally, and has represented clients in matters ranging from minor traffic matters to serious offences in the Supreme Court. He is well regarded by fellow practitioners, prosecutors, Magistrates and Judges and is constantly praised for his advocacy skills and professionalism in the Courts. He has also run several successful appeals in the Court of Appeal, and has instructed both Junior and Senior Counsel where appropriate for such matters.



 

Jemma Golding


Jemma holds a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours and Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies from Griffith University. She was admitted as a practising solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2010. From Lismore, in regional New South Wales, Jemma has seen first hand the impact that socio-economic disadvantage can have on a community. Through this she has recognised the importance of a strong criminal justice system and discerning representation, in creating better outcomes for all individuals involved. Jemma assists the senior lawyers in their high level matters before all jurisdictions on a daily basis. She appears and represents clients personally in the Magistrates Courts and has a detailed knowledge of the legal requirements and procedures of the criminal justice system. Jemma completed her Honours paper in the field of animal cruelty, interpersonal violence and sentencing in Queensland, and aims to create greater awareness of this field of law and the unique issues that it presents for the criminal justice system.


 



Nathan Hounsell


Nathan completed his Bachelor of Laws at Griffith University accompanied with a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies in 2010. He became admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland in September 2011. His degree has inspired considerable interest in the criminal justice system and criminal law. On a daily basis, Nathan assists the senior lawyers in all jurisdictions and he personally appears in the Magistrates Courts. Through both his degree and practical experience Nathan has a detailed knowledge of the legal requirements and procedures of the criminal justice system. He is responsible for a range of files from Special Hardship applications to serious drug trafficking.
